The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) has issued a safety alert to U.S. citizens in Taiwan, warning them of possible violence during demonstrations in Taipei this weekend.
Some U.S. citizens living in Taiwan said that it is the first time they have ever received such warnings from the AIT.
The warning comes in the wake of widespread protests by Muslims against the United States over an anti-Islam film, and the Diaoyutais sovereignty dispute between Japan, China and Taiwan.
