BANGALORE, July 30 (Reuters) – Taiwan’s Acer (2353.TW), the world’s No. 3 PC brand, sees India revenue rising 25 percent this year to 25 billion rupees ($539 million), driven by demand from small businesses and academic institutions, its India head said.
“Last year retail was the driver but growth this year I think is going to come majorly from SME and education sector,” W.S. Mukund, managing director of Acer India told Reuters in an interview on Friday, referring to small and medium enterprises.
The company will invest about 500 million rupees to build its retail coverage in the country, mostly targetting smalller cities and towns, he added. Mukund expects the company’s growth in 2010 to be twice that of the market, which he sees growing at 10-12 percent. more …
